Girl
Scouts is a wonderful experience for girls
and adults!
Girls
Come
experience the fun, friendship and power of girls
together! All girls ages 5-17 are welcome, as long as they
agree to make the Girl Scout
Promise, accept
the Girl Scout Law
and
pay the $10 national membership dues.
Girl
Scout Council of the Mid-South offers the Girl Scout
program to girls living within our 10-county, three-state jurisdiction.
The five different age levels
in Girl Scouts allow for girls to progress in skills and
activities together.
STUDIO
2B, for girls 11-17, was developed in October 2002. Key
elements for success with teens include mix and match
participation opportunities, teen savvy adults, and an
emphasis on utilizing the "by girls, for girls"
approach.
Girls
who want to be Girl Scouts, but are unable to participate
in troop or group activities, may choose to register
individually as a Juliette. These girls are
provided opportunities to participate in group experiences
with peers in partnership with trained adults.
Placement
options give girls the chance to experience Girl
Scouting in a variety of ways including but not
limited to, at church, school, housing communities, and
individually. Financial
assistance is available to eliminate economic
barriers.
Girls
in Girl Scouts have the opportunity to make new friends,
go camping, do science experiments, help others, learn
about careers, travel, mentor younger girls, canoe, hang
out with other Girl Scouts, etc. You can dream, plan and
carry out almost any adventure.
If
youre ready to start your Girl Scout adventure right
now, or if you want to learn more, contact Girl Scout
Council of the Mid-Souths membership
department. Read the frequently
asked questions (FAQs) section to find some
answers, too.
Adults
Its never too
late to be a Girl Scout! Here in the Mid-South, there are
around 2,500 adults (women and men) who believe in the
value of Girl Scouting and show their support and
commitment by being registered members of Girl Scouts of
the USA.
While
troop leaders continue to be the most needed volunteer,
there are numerous other volunteer opportunities
available. Our screening and selection or placement
process will help find a meaningful way for you to share
your skills and talents within the time you have available
in your schedule. Your clearly defined role, however large
or small, will help girls grow strong through their Girl
Scout experience, and will enrich your life.
Adult members
must accept the principles and beliefs as stated in
GSUSAs Preamble of the Constitution; pay national dues
($10 per year) and meet applicable membership standards.
As an adult
member, you will receive council publications and
GSUSAs Leader magazine, can take advantage of trainings
offered by the council, enrich you life and made a
difference! To learn more about being involved, see the
information provided in the Volunteer
section.
