This year, the Girl Scout Council of the Mid-South is establishing a Teen Advisory Board that will meet with the council president and other board officers and members on a periodic basis.  This will be a forum for exchange of ideas, discussion of issues, updates regarding board activities and decisions, and input from teen Girl Scouts to assist the board in making its decisions with a girl-centric perspective.  We would like to have 10 to 20 teen Girl Scouts serve on the advisory board, which we anticipate will meet three to four times during the year.

In addition, we are looking for teen Girl Scouts to serve on board committees and task groups.  The Girl Scout board of directors establishes the committees and task groups to assist in carrying out its many responsibilities.  Board committees and task groups are composed of board and non-board members, appointed by the president, upon approval of the board of directors.  Meetings are scheduled at the convenience of the members of the committee/task group.

Requirements:

Interest in the council�s governance and policy making functions, ability to see the big picture � looking beyond individual or troop interests and concerns to council-wide interests and concerns, willingness to listen to new ideas and others� opinions, ability to contribute ideas and opinions, ability to evaluate information and data and make decisions for the overall good of Girl Scouting in our council today and in the future.

Submit a letter to Claire Barnett, council president, stating your interest in the advisory board and/or specific committees/task groups and experience based on the above criteria.  Also submit this form, with up to four choices indicated.  Please rank your preferences using 1, 2, 3, and 4, with 1 being your top choice.  Although we will try to honor your first, second or third choices, we need to include teen Girl Scouts of diverse perspectives and backgrounds on the advisory board and each committee/task group.  Deadline for submittal � May 22, 2006
