Leaders and advisors
should not run the cookie sale
alone. Your focus is on building girls’ skills through
cookie related activities.
Girls benefit most when the leader
delegates some
responsibilities of the cookie
sale to a competent volunteer(s).
You are then free to focus on motivating girls and helping them to set and reach goals.
The
troop cookie sale manager runs the
sale and is in charge of
time-consuming tasks such as:
- Going
to cookie training
- Coordinating
with parents
- Compiling
cookie orders and turning them
in on time
- Scheduling
and coordinating volunteers
for cookie booths
- Picking
up cookies from the central
distribution point
- Collecting
money
- Completing
final paperwork
A
troop cookie sale manager needs to
be recruited as soon as possible
and have an
agreement on file at the Girl
Scout Service Center.
Some
parents need persuading when it
comes to volunteering.
Communicate
that being a troop cookie sale
manger:
- Benefits their girl and the entire troop
- Is a short-term commitment with defined start and end dates
- Is easy with the proper training
- Is a job that can be shared among multiple parents
- Fits well into working parents’ schedules
